The Secret Garden

My most recent design project entailed researching the local area around our UK university and from this research design a three outfit capsule collection that encapsulates the heritage of the area. I decided to take quite a twist on the interpretation of Leeds Heritage by focussing on the novel The Secret Garden. The book was first written by Frances Hodgson Burnett in 1911 and is set in the North Yorkshire Moors. After devouring the book I created my own trend, which I decided to call The Secret Garden, drawing inspiration from imperative themes and symbols within the novel. The below image depicts my mood board for this Spring Summer trend:

Rather than creating a customer profile for this project, we were directed to simply produce a muse. I chose Elle Fanning, as for me, her image and quirky fashion sense was perfect for what I was hoping to achieve within my collection.

These are my illustrations of my final three outfits I chose for my capsule collection. I decided to do my illustrations by hand as I wanted to continue the water colour aesthetics from my design development work. I then added the more intricate detailing on illustrator.

These specification sheets depict the three outfits in my capsule collection. Unlike my illustrations, I created my specification sheets on illustrator. I thought this was a more appropriate medium for depicting all the essential information on specification drawings.
