A Year In Vogue

This year's Vogue covers  saw lots of fresh faces gracing their first Vogue cover, from musicians, including Rihanna and Adele, to the world's most beautiful models, such as Gisele Bundchen and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

I couldn't decide on my favourite cover from the year, so I thought I'd share my top two:
MARCH: A delighted Rosie Huntington-Whiteley secured her first solo Vogue cover. A cheeky bit of cleavage and beautiful tumbling hair featured on the cover, whilst inside Miuccia Prada's  fashion-transformation skills were explored in The Alchemist.
AUGUST: Fresh from her July wedding to Jamie Hince, supermodel Kate Moss added another Vogue cover to her impressive tally. In the cover she sported the season's classic, Forties-inspired looks for Mario Testino inside. I absolutely love all the pastel tones which are very popular at the moment, and the overall discretely glamorous effect of the cover.

Maison Martin Margiela

My most recent design project entailed creating our own trend within groups for Maison Martin Margiela, A/W '12/13. My particular group created the trend 'Atmospheric;' drawing inspiration from the developing environment and technology. Here is our mood board:

These are my illustrations of my final 10 outfits I chose for my capsule collection. I decided to do my illustrations by hand as I wanted to continue the water colour aesthetics from my design development work. However, I wanted my illustrations to be quite quirky and striking to reflect Martin Margiela's style effectively.

These specification sheets depict my 10 outfits in my collection. Unlike my illustrations, I created my specification sheets on illustrator. I thought this was a more appropriate medium for depicting all the essential information on specification drawings.

Gold Leaf

A while ago now I designed some pieces for the new and upcoming clothing brand Gold Leaf, to be featured on Britain and Ireland's Live Show, October 2011. Former fashion editor of Vogue and founder of Elle, Harriett Jagger, was the head stylist of the show so it was extremely exciting when she approved some of my designs.

My friend, Chloe Snelling and I worked together to produce our designs in our very tight two week deadline! Here are a few pictures of our designs on the catwalk and at Gold Leaf's launch party, November 2011.

Digital Design

I thought I'd post a few of my favourite pieces of work from my most recent digital design project. This was the first time I'd properly used Illustrator, and I must confess, when I first started I absolutely hated it! However, I absolutely love it now, it's practically my best friend.

For this project we were asked to construct a few pages of research as well as specific flat drawings:

We were also given some patterns to re-create, which were relevant to our path of design:

Followed by a few pages of personal development:

Online Fashion Week

The first ever online fashion week has now officially ended. I hope you all entered some of the competitions, I definitely did!

Vogue.co.uk's fashion week was crammed of lots of exciting stuff from the 5th-9th December. Christopher Kane, Alice Temperley and David Gandy chatted from aboard the London Eye; Selfridges gave away a £500 shopping spree every day of OFW; Cheryl Cole talked through her new shoe collectionJanuary Vogue cover girl Florence Welch got the action underway; Matches gave one lucky winner a S/S '12 'must-have' each day ( including a Christopher Kane dress!); Christian Louboutin unveiled his first ever European transactional website; Donatella Versace joined the OFW party; Mulberry gave away a limited-edition Bayswater bag and Victoria Beckham gave readers her best career advice.

Some of my favourite offers included the chance to win a pair of Nicholas Kirkwood shoes! If you obsess over shoes, then this was definitely the competition for you.
Online jewellery emporium MYFLASHTRASH.COM also offered a tempting selection of free gifts. The jewellery range Eastern Mystic was also included in these irresistible offers. I really love their quirky little collection.

Another enticing jewellery offer from Astley Clarke gave competitors the chance to win their wishlist of stacked rings to the value of £400!
Fingers crossed!

Yasmin Kianfar

British designer, Yasmin Kianfar is planning on expanding to Australia after her Spring/Summer '12 collection was bought by the luxury Sydney boutique, Christensen Copenhagen. The former Central Saint Martins student graduated only last year and has already worked with renowned clients including Cheryl Cole and Jessie J.

Describing her label as "elegant, contemporary and luxurious", Kianfar's look is inspired by both Paris and her hometown, London. The label's design ethos is simple, with a sophisticated edge.

I definitely think she's one to watch.

Here are a few of my favourite pieces from her Spring/Summer '12 collection...
